Question and Answers

Q:

Where are the fuses located in my dryer?

A:

The fuses that the manual refers to are your house fuses or circuit breakers located inside your house circuit breaker box.

You house electrical service most likely uses circuit breakers and not fuses. The electrical supply to your electric dryer has two (2) circuit breakers dedicated for the dryer. These two circuit breakers will be located in a breaker box outside of the house or maybe inside the garage. Locate the two breakers dedicated for the dryer and flip both breakers OFF and back ON 2-3 times and then recheck the dryer for heat. Your dryer must have 220 volts supplied to it or it will run but not produce any heat.

I added the wiring diagram in the image below and parts diagram. To access the components with the key#'s listed below will require removing the rear panel. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the rear panel.

If you verified the proper voltage supply to the dryer the failure could be one of the follow:

  • Timer
  • Thermal cutoff (key#1) Most likely the failure
  • Operating thermostat (key#42)
  • Hi limit thermostat (key#34)
  • Heating element (key#14)
  • Motor centrifugal switch
  • Burn wire connection

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dryer.
