Question and Answers

Q:

I have a whirlpool dryer #LER5848EQ5. & the dryer isn't spinning or drying the clothes. I hear a humming noise but its not truning. Please help.

A:

Your symptoms suggest that you may have a broken drive belt. I recommend that you unplug the dryer and check that issue first. Here is a link for a video that shows how to open the cabinet: Dryer Belt Replacement . If that belt is broken, then you can order a new one from the Sears PartsDirect.com website. The part number for the belt is 341241. Here is a direct link for that part: Drive Belt . Be sure that you unplug the dryer before accessing and replacing internal components.

If that drive belt is okay, then you could have a problem with the drive system. A bad drum support roller or other failures inside the drum could prevent that drum from rotating when the motor is runs. You can examine those components if necessary.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
