Question and Answers

Q:

whirlpool dryer doesn;t start

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern when the heater comes on and the motor is not turning the drum and the fan.

The motor has a set of contacts that closes when the motor starts to complete the circuit to the heater.

For Safety reasons please unplug or remove power to this dryer at once. This could be a potential safety problem.

The element may be cycling on the high limit thermostat even though you are not using the dryer.

It sounds like the motor contracts are stuck.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

If you want to check this yourself you will need a volt/ohm multi-meter to check the motor contacts 2m to 1m to see if it is closed with the dryer unplugged from the power.

You will need to remove the back panel on the dryer to access the motor contacts. It is a high possibility that the motor is bad.

I hope this will help.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.
