Question and Answers

Q:

dry will not start LEC7848DQ0

A:

That faint humming is likely the timer motor running. That indicates that the door switch is okay. You could have a blown thermal fuse (part 3392519). Here is a link for that part that has a photograph of the fuse: Thermal Fuse. I recommend that you check that issue first. Unplug the dryer and remove the back panel. The thermal fuse is on the blower housing. Remove the wires from that fuse and tape them together with electrical tape. This will bypass the fuse for a brief test. Plug the dryer in and see if it starts with that fuse bypassed. If it does, then replacing that fuse will fix your problem.

Unplug the dryer and connect the wires back on the fuse as soon as this brief test is completed. Do not continue to operate the dryer with that fuse bypassed. That fuse must be replaced to safely operate the dryer.

Check the exhaust vent path if that thermal fuse was blown. A clog or restriction in the vent path to the outside of your home could have caused that fuse to blow. Check the dryer to make sure that it is not overheating once you replace the fuse. A problem with the operating thermostat or the heating element could also cause the fuse to blow.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
