Question and Answers

Q:

What part do I need to replace in order to my Maytag gas dryer to heat?

A:

I couldn't say with any certainty what part has failed without using a volt/ohm meter. Each one of the components wired in series with the gas valve will need to be tested. Each one of the components must have continuity in order for the voltage to be supplied to the gas valve in order for the burner to operate. I added an image of the wiring diagram below.

It could have one of the following component failures:

  • Timer
  • Cycling thermostat
  • Hi-limit thermostat
  • Radiant sensor
  • Igniter
  • Solenoid coils
  • Motor centrifugal switch
  • Temperature switch

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your gas dryer.
