Q:

My 2005 Kenmore Dryer won't heat!

A:

Hi Wen,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

From your description the most likely cause of this issue is weak gas coils (part number 279834). Here is a video that demonstrates replacing the coils; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. This video is for demonstration purposes only. This dryer may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Q:

I have a Kenmore Oven, Sept 2005, it does not go on.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

As Alina suggested in the first response; I will need to know the model number of your Kenmore oven/range and additional details in order to provide any model specific information and troubleshooting assistance.

The only thing I can suggest is to check for tripped circuit beaker dedicated for the range/oven. If it's an electric range/oven it will have two dedicated circuit breakers located inside the house circuit breaker box. I would try resetting both circuit breakers by flipping them off and on 2-3 times and then see if it will operate.

So that's what I can tell you at this point. I can give you more detailed help if you could provide me with the complete model number. The model numbers are typically located around the oven cavity frame or behind the broiler/storage drawer on the oven frame. If you could supply me with that information I will be happy to assist you further.

Q:

my dishwasher will not drain

A:

Check the sink drain to make sure that it is draining properly. If you have an air gap installed in that drain line configuration, I recommend that you check that component for a clog.

You can check the drain hose for a kink for clog. Use the installation guide for your dishwasher as a guide to accessing that drain hose. If you do not have the installation manual, then you can probably find it on our Manage My Life website. Click on the "Manuals" tab at the top of this webpage to access that feature.

These general tips may help you resolve that dishwasher drain problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and the full model number of your Kenmore dishwasher.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
