Question and Answers

Q:

Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDK01TKBT0

A:

An intermittent problem with the door switch could be preventing the dishwasher from starting. You could also have a problem with the float switch in the bottom of the tub.

I recommend that you check that float switch first. Make sure that it is not sticking in the "up" position.

If the float switch is okay, try pressing in firmly on the top of the door when the dishwasher won't start. If it starts when you press in on the door then you may need to replace the door latch assembly and/or the door strike to fix this problem. Check the strike on the top of tub. It may need to be bent slightly or adjusted so that it engages properly. You can shut off the circuit breaker and access the door latch assembly. The image below shows how to release the console to access that area. Check the wiring connections and the components of the latch assembly. You can view a parts list diagram of the dishwasher and order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

These tips may help you fix this dishwasher problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
