Question and Answers

Q:

my jenn air range jgr8875rdw oven will not light

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The bake operation works in the same manner as the broil operation. When the oven control is programmed for bake and started, the bake glow bar igniter must glow and it must pull enough current/amperage to cause the oven gas valve to open. If the bake igniter is glowing and the bake burner valve never opens for burner ignition, the igniter is most likely too weak to pull enough current to open the oven gas valve. Replace the bake igniter and your bake burner will most likely ignite and operate normally.

If the bake igniter is not glowing, it could have a broken bake igniter, faulty electronic oven control or a slight possibility the oven gas valve is faulty. I add an image below with information and instructions for accessing and replacing the bake igniter.

The bake igniter #74008064 for model JGR8875RDW can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct if you find it faulty. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
