Question and Answers

Q:

Bad spark module on range? JGD8430ADS

A:

Cleaning the switch on that control valve will probably not help. Since the switch has had enough time to dry out and it is still not working, I recommend that you replace it. You can order the switch from this page: JennAir Cooktop Model JGD8430ADS Control Parts . There is a different part number for the left side burner switches and the right side burner switches. The replacement switch for the left side is part number 74010857. The right side switch is part number 74010858.

Be sure that you unplug the range or shut off the house circuit breaker to completely disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Also, shut off the gas supply to the cooktop. I posted some access procedures in the image below in case you need that information for this repair.

If you need more help, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Q:

My stove top is getting no electricity - the electric pilot starters and the exhaust fan don't work.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details it sounds like the cook top is not getting any voltage. When the power was restored the cook top igniters and exhaust fan should have operated normally again. Did you verify the electrical outlet has power? Test the outlet by plugging in some other type of small electrical appliance (hair dryer) to see if the electrical wall outlet has power. If if does not have power, check for a tripped circuit breaker in house breaker box.

I'm sure once the outlet has power that your cook top will work again because a power outage would not likely cause a failure within the cook top.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.
