burner clicking wont stop JGC8536ADW Jenn-air Jenn air cooking


Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

There is spark igniter switch located on top of each one of the burner valves. If one of the switches is not breaking the circuit, it will cause all 5 spark igniter to spark all the time. You did not clarify if the spark igniter will stop sparking when all the knobs are in the off position or not so I must assume it will stop sparking.

I will assume the igniters will stop sparking when all the burners are turned off. I will base my response below if the igniters will stop sparking when all the burner knobs are in the off position.

If the spark igniter does not sense the burner igniting, it will continue to spark. This unit has what is called a re-ignition system in which the spark module cause the spark igniters to begin sparking if the burner flame blows out while the burner valve is still on. This will generally only happen if the burner flame is on the low setting. If it blows out due to a draft or gust of wind, it will begin to spark until it senses the burner is lit.

If it does not detect the burner is lit, it will remain sparking. This could be caused by a faulty spark module or a faulty ground or reverse polarity. If the voltage supply has reverse polarity or a grounding issue, this could cause it to continue to spark even after the burner ignites.

I strongly suggest calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair your cook top. The polarity and ground will need to be checked and verified before servicing.
