Question and Answers

Q:

JDS9860AAP JDS9860AAP

A:

The high limit thermostat is located under the top.

Here is a link to the instructions. I hope this helpful. It will require removing the top. Disconnect the power cord or turn off the breaker to the range. Turn the gas supply off. Follow the instructions in the link and you should not have problem. If you do not feel confident in making this repair, I suggest calling a Sears technician with the knowledge and experience to replace the high limit thermostat.

Q:

jenn air model JDS9860AAP error code F1

A:

This type of problem could be caused by a bad oven temperature sensor.

The technical information for this range is shown in the first image below. You can use the information shown in that image to recall the specific error code. The F1 code should show an additional number or letter behind it in the Quick Test mode. Use the information shown at the top of the right side of that image to recall the error code. This should help you narrow down the cause of the failure.

If you see the F1-1 error code, I recommend that you continue to use the Quick Test to display the temperature sensed by the probe in the oven. If that temperature is way off, I recommend that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the range and check the resistance of the oven temperature sensor probe. The second image below shows how to access that component. Measure the resistance of the sensor with a volt/ohm meter. It should measure about 1100 ohms at room temperature (75 degrees). I provided a temperature/resistance chart in the first image. If the resistance of the probe is bad, then you will need to replace that component (part number 12001656).

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If the sensor probe is okay, you will probably need to replace the control board in the console. I recommend that you have a service technician replace this component. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Q:

Why is my Jenn-Air model number jds9860aap range giving an F9 error code?

A:

The F9 error code for this model number Jenn-air range indicates a door lock issue. The control sees it as locked, unlocked, or both at the same time.

The technical manual instructs us to check the wiring to and from the door lock mechanism. (See document below) and if no issues are found replace the motorized door lock. The DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY parts are serial number specific, meaning you have to pick a certain one using the first two numbers of the serial.

Check the wiring with an Ohm/Volt meter or make sure the wires are connected well at both ends. Then make sure the wire is covered and no parts of the wire covers are melted with bare wire touching anything.

If the wiring looks good replace the motorized door lock
