Question and Answers

Q:

my ge washing machine model # gtwn3000m1ws

A:

This washer uses an inverter control board on top of the drive motor and a mode shifter to control the spin cycle in the washer. You did not mention whether you are having to reset the washer as shown in this video: GE Washer Reset . If you are having to reset the washer then you will likely see an error code on that inverter that is mounted above the motor. The information in the first image below shows how to access and check that LED light on the inverter control board. You can determine the error code being signaled and use that information to repair the washer if necessary. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

NOTE: The procedure in the first image requires that you have the washer plugged in with that front panel removed. Use extreme caution when accessing internal components with the washer plugged in. Unplug the washer while accessing components. Plug in the washer to observe the error code and then unplug the washer as soon as that task is completed. Do not make contact with internal components when the washer is plugged in with the front panel removed.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th images provide additional technical information about this washer drive system in case you need it. The 4th image includes information on live voltage checks. You should only conduct those live voltage checks if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely execute them . If in doubt, I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair this washer failure. Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need it: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, reply with additional details based on the above tests.

Here is the 4th image. NOTE: That mode shifter may only measure 65 ohms instead of 98 ohms as noted in the technical data.
