Question and Answers

Ten yr old GE dishwasher immediately floods suds from door. No appearant stopage

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I do not know what type of automatic dishwashing detergent you’re using but it should NOT be causing suds. If it sudsing then that's the reason why it's leaking water/suds over the front lip of the tub and onto the floor. The door does not completely seal the entire front lip of the tub and if it overfills or is over sudsing, water and suds can pour over the front edge of the tub and leak on the floor.

Pour about a tablespoon of vegetable oil directly into the bottom of the tub and it will break the suds down to a liquid and then drain the dishwasher. Start another cycle and let it fill and then advance the timer to the drain cycle and keep repeating until there are no more suds. Start another cycle without adding any detergent and then see if it leaks.

Again, you should never see or have any suds in the dishwasher or it will leak. If it continues to leak when there are no suds present, then it is likely overfilling with water or it's not draining all the water out after the drain cycle has completed.
