Q:

have a Kenmore gs dryer that will not heat. I just replaced the ignitor and it still will not fire up. What should be my next step?? Thanks

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. You did not mention if the new igniter is glowing red or not. If it is not glowing then we must assume the igniter is not getting any voltage. If it is not glowing then it could have a faulty thermal fuse, operating thermostat, high limit thermostat or a faulty flame sensor. I recommend checking the thermal fuse first. The thermal fuse is located on the blower wheel housing and will have a solid red wire and red wire with a white stripe connected to it. Disconnect both wires and check across the two male terminals on the thermal fuse for continuity. It must measure continuity or it is faulty. Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing your dryer.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

my grill will not ignite. no sparking noise when i depress the starter knob.

A:

I appears that this grill uses a double A battery to power the igniter. Your symptoms point to a dead battery. I recommend checking that issue first. The battery should be in the electronic ignition module (Key 25 on the parts diagram in your owner's manual). Here is a link for your owner's manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual .

If you replace the battery and the ignitors still won't work, you may need to replace the ignition module. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.
