Hi Daniel,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The first thing I recommend is checking for fault/error codes. The error codes are extremely important in the diagnosis of this type of washer. This washer has a way to recall error codes. If the control detects a problem it will identify it with an error code. I am including this information in a set of images below.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or purchase any parts needed for your appliance; Sears Parts Direct .

Please perform the diagnostic tests detailed here and report back with your findings. Be sure to record any failures and when they occur along with any error codes that are displayed.

Daniel,

Test 4: Check the drain hose for restrictions. If the drain hose is clogged, kinked, or restricted in some way, correct this and try the washer again. If no restriction is found, start the washer and check for 120 VAC at the drain pump. If you have no voltage at the drain pump you will need to check the wiring down from the control board and if the wiring is good, replace the control board. If the voltage at the drain pump reads 120 VAC remove the pump and check for blockage. If blocked, remove the blockage, if no blockage is found, replace the pump. NOTE: You should only check that live outlet voltage if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely measure it. Wear proper safety equipment (electrical safety gloves and safety goggles) when checking that live outlet voltage.

I am including a video below that demonstrates disassembly of a similar washer. the washer in this video does not have a bottom panel, but the disassembly of your washer is close to the same. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here and if you need additional assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

Q:

Fridgiaire GLTF2940FS1 Front Load Washing Machine pauses intermittently during washing cycle.

A:

The washer could be pausing due to a problem with the door switch. A defective pause/cancel button on the control could also cause that problem. This failure has been known to occur if the console is wiped down while the washer is still plugged in.

You can try to reset the control by completely unplugging the washer for 2 minutes. Plug the washer back in. Try using it for several cycles and see if the problem continues. This procedure has been known to clear up that problem in some situations. If the washer continues to pause intermittently, then you will need to conduct some further checks on the door switch and wiring connections. Reply with additional details if you need more help with this failure.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Based on your description, that may fix your problem. Replacing that part without further diagnosis is a risk. That being said, it may be difficult to diagnose a intermittent problem like the one that you are describing. I recommend that you unplug the washer and check those wire harness connections on the control and the door switch. If you find no problems, then replacing that door latch assembly would be the next logical step if you do not want to perform any further diagnosis.
