Question and Answers

Q:

Whirlpool refrigerator model GI7FVCXWY01 - parts installation

A:

Be sure that you unplug the refrigerator before beginning this repair. I provided a detailed procedure for removing the ice maker assembly from the refrigerator in the images below. That information should help you remove the ice maker assembly from the roof of that refrigerator compartment. Once you get the ice maker assembly out, you will need to remove the cover on that ice maker module (Key 12 in the parts image shown below). With that cover off, you can remove the screws that secure that module assembly part 626691 to the ice maker assembly. The last image shows the screws that you should need to remove circled in red. Once you remove that module, you can further disassemble the ice maker to access and replace the thermostat part 628397. That parts diagram should help you see how to access that thermostat.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

This is a fairly advanced repair. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician replace those parts, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
