Question and Answers

Q:

Does not drain properly GHW9100LW1 Whirlpool Washer - direct drive

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and “F/02” is flashed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

Potential Causes:
• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
• Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
• Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
• Check to make sure the washer is not oversudsing due too much detergent, or not using H.E. Detergent.
• If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump.
NOTE: After 4 minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed.  Then 4 minutes later the F/02 error code will be displayed.

If the drain pump is pumping all the water out and you're not using too much or the wrong kind of detergents, It likely has a faulty water level pressure switch or the air hose connected between the water level switch and the air dome assembly located at the lower rear area of the tub could be restricted with soap etc. The water level pressure switch is located under the top and it will mounted on the upper side of the side panel. The ball acts as a check valve. The ball rises when water is in the tub and it sinks once the water has drained. It keeps odors from the pump to migrate into the tub as well as preventing water from the drain hose to back up into the pump. If you have not remove the tub to pump hose and checked and cleaned ball and hose, I would recommend doing so.  I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

A:

Larry; The air hose that connects the water level pressure switch to the back of the tub is about 1/4 inch in diameter. If the little air hose is not restricted or pinched, the water level pressure switch will likely need to be replaced.

A:

Larry; The only thing I can add is to NOT use too much detergent because it can leave detergent residue in those places as you found.

Q:

Why won't my Kenmore Duet washer model GHW9100LW1 wash after it fills and the door locks?

A:

This washer will normally indicate an error code in the display when it detects a problem and will not continue with the cycle. This error code will point to the failed component or problem that is preventing the washer from continuing. I recommend that you start the washer and continue to monitor it for this type of error code. The following link of a previous answer provides information on the various error codes that could be displayed on your model of Duet washer: Why does my Kenmore washer have an F code?

This technical information is intended for service technicians. If you use the troubleshooting information, be sure to follow electrical safety guidelines. Unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

Q:

New motor belt too small to install on Whirlpool Washer model GHW9100LW1

A:

Thank you for your question.

I know how difficult it can be to install the new belt. I recommend using a zip tie to hold the belt on the large pulley. The zip tie will keep the belt on while you concentrate on keeping the belt on the small pulley when turning the pulley. I have provided the instructions below on how to install the belt. I have also added a red circle where to put the zip tie. If you do not a zip tie you can use rope instead. Once the belt is on, cut the zip ties off, and rotate the pulley a few times to center the belt.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
