Question and Answers

Q:

My gas whirlpool dryer Model # ggq9800lg1 is not heating. Im trying to fix it myself with NO EXPERIENCE) not going very well. Trying to locate the exact prob

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the glow bar igniter is not glowing then it could have one of the following component failures:

  • Timer
  • Heater switch/Temperature switch
  • Thermal fuse
  • Operating thermostat
  • High limit thermostat
  • Flame sensor
  • Ignitor

I would begin diagnosing the failure by disconnecting the thermal fuse and testing it for continuity with an Ohm meter. The thermal fuse (key#59)is located on the blower housing. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the lower access panel. If the thermal fuse does not measure continuity when testing it with the Ohm meter, replace the thermal fuse. I added a YouTube video showing how to test the thermal fuse. I also added a video showing how to access and replace the thermal fuse.

Also, check your vent system for any kinks or blockages before using the dryer or the thermal fuse may fail again.

The thermal fuse for Whirlpool dryer model GGQ9800LG1 is part #3392519 can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
