Question and Answers

Dryer overheating

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If your dryer is overheating due to a restricted venting system or lint filter it can cause the Thermal Limiter to open and prevent the dryer from starting.

The Thermal Limiter is fastened to the inside of the rear panel near the terminal block where power cord attached to the dryer. You will have to hinge the top open in order to access the thermal limiter (key#36) as shown in the image I added below. I also added a YouTube video showing how to test a thermal fuse or thermal limiter for continuity. Click here . NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before hinging the top open

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
