Q:

Installing Frigidair dishwasher door latch?

A:

Hi William,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The white wires go on the neutral side and the black wires go on the L1 side. I am including a wiring diagram below. I have marked the L1 in red and the neutral in green. Here is a video that demonstrates replacing the door latch with the switches; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. The dishwasher in this video may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or to purchase any parts needed; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post.

William,

You most likely have a loose wire connection somewhere. I recommend removing the toe panel and checking where power comes in. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

Then check the wiring and connections between the console and control board.

I hope this is helpful, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post.

William,

It is possible that wiring the door switches backwards could cause this. The diagnosis of this issue will require a volt meter. If you have a volt/ohm meter and are comfortable working around live electricity I can give you a few checks that will help you diagnose the problem.

Please respond to this post and I will be happy to assist you further.

Q:

Dishwasher still not working even after replacing latch twice.

A:

Check the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher. A tripped circuit breaker could prevent the unit from powering up.

You could have a loose wiring connection. I recommend that you shut off the house circuit breaker and check the wiring connections on that control board in the console. Your pictures indicate that you already have access to that area. Make sure that the control panel connection is plugged in securely. Make sure that the door switch is connected properly. The image below shows the wiring diagram for that dishwasher. That information should help you check those wiring connections.

If you need more help after checking that wiring, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you need parts, you can order them through this link: Frigidaire Dishwasher Model FDBL955BS0 . Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher before accessing and replacing internal components.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
