Question and Answers

Q:

Why does my Frigidaire dishwasher model FDB510LCS0 turn on but run indefinitely unless I stop it?

A:

The timer motor does control the knob. The knob would not prevent the dishwasher from stopping. It is likely that the motor is bad in the timer. Replacing the timer should fix this dishwasher problem. You can order a new timer from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number is 154465901. To replace the timer, shut off the breaker to the dishwasher and remove the console from the front dishwasher panel. The timer is shown in the parts diagram below (Key 3). Remove the knob from the front of the timer. Unplug the wire harness connection. Remove and replace the timer. Plug the wire harness into the new timer and reassemble the console. Install the knob on the front of the timer. If you are not completely confident in your technical ability to safely complete this repair, I recommend that you call a service technician to replace the timer.

This should fix your dishwasher problem. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

Frigidaire dishwasher will not start.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

You did not indicate if the dishwasher would fill with water or not. I also must assume when you say that it "appears to have power" is because you see the "Washing” Led lit up. The console only has three led's; Delay Start, Washing and Clean. If neither one of the three LED's will not come on then it likely does not have the voltage supply to the timer. The cycles and options buttons do NOT have any LED's. When any option or cycle button is pushed it mechanically displays the indicator and does not have any LED's.

If the Delay Start, Washing or Clean led's are not lighting up then the dishwasher is not likely getting the proper voltage supply. I recommend removing the lower access panel and then removing the electrical junction box cover and check the voltage supply connections. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher by flipping the dedicated circuit breaker off before removing junction box cover.

I do not recommend checking voltage unless you have experience and feel safe and confident in doing so, otherwise I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.

If the dishwasher is getting proper voltage then it could have a faulty door switch preventing the dishwasher from starting or timer. Check the door switches for proper operation using an ohm meter or voltage. The door switches must close and complete the circuit when the door is shut and latched.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
