Q:

Ultrasoft 280 water softener

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the softener. If you do not have the pressure drop when the softener is bypassed I suspect the problem is a plugged upper distributer. The image below shows where the upper distributer is located. Before taking the softener apart, push the regeneration button to start a regeneration. This will bleed the pressure off. Then remove the clips that are marked in blue in the image. Once the clips are removed, lift the valve body off. Please not the locations of the o-rings. Then remove the upper distributer and clean the sediments out of it. Once it is clean reassemble the softener and checks the operation.

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Just push the button to start the regeneration. Once it gets to the first step of the regeneration, unplug the softener, and take it apart. After you have completed the repair plug, the softener in. once it is plugged in the motor will run until it finds the rotor position. if by chance you get an error code after plugging the unit in, you will need to unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in. some times the computer will error out if it does not find the rotor position on the first try. Please feel free to reply below if you have any other questions.

Barbara, if you have a voltmeter I recommend checking the voltage to the control first. If the transformer is defective, the control will not light up. With the transformer plugged in place the meter leads on the wires from the transformer. If you get a zero reading, the transformer is the problem. If you do have a reading of 24 volts ac, I recommend replacing the control.

Q:

Bosch Dishwasher Model Number: SHV4303UC-12 (FD 8003)

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the flow through heater is not working that would explain why it takes so long. If the incoming water supply is below 120 degrees that could also cause the dishwasher to run longer. I suggest calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher. Bosch dishwashers are not service friendly and the dishwasher will have to be un-installed in order to access and replace the heater assembly if it is faulty.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
