Question and Answers

Q:

My Proform 820 eliptical won't change resistance levels anymore.

A:

Replace the batteries before doing any testing. If the batteries are weak, the display will work, but the tension motor won't.

These types of problems are usually caused by the wiring harness between the console and the tension motor.

Disconnect both ends of the wiring harness and check each wire in the harness for continuity. Be sure no wire makes contact with another wire or ground.

If the harness is good, replace the tension motor.

Q:

my proform 820 is pedaling slowly, how can i fix this?

A:

It sounds like you are indicating that you are not able to adjust the tension on the machine. Try changing the batteries and then see if the tension can be adjusted properly.

If this does not help, then you could have a component problem in the machine. The technical information for this elliptical is shown in the images below. If you are able to check the voltage from the console with a volt/ohm meter, you may be able to determine the cause of your problem. You may also be able to remove a side shield and check the tension motor and c-magnet. You can view a parts list diagram of your machine on the Sears PartsDirect website. You can also order parts from that source if needed.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
