Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore DW

A:

Without knowing the model number of your Kenmore dishwasher I will not be able to provide any model specific information of troubleshooting instructions. Based on your symptom the failure could be a faulty door switch, interface board or the main control board. In order to diagnose which one has failed will require accessing the door switches and control board. The door switches will need to be tested and the interface board. Some models have instructions how to check the interface board in the technical data sheet that is supplied with the dishwasher.

Resubmit your question with the model number for model specific troubleshooting assistance.

Q:

Kenmore DW does not drain

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the wash motor is operating during the drain cycles, there is likely a blockage in the check valve assembly. The check valve is the component the drain hose is connected to under the dishwasher. Also, if the drain hose connects to a new garbage disposal, make sure the knock out plug was removed from the new disposal.

I added a YouTube video showing how to access and remove the check valve . NOTE: Disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply before servicing.

After removing the check valve from the sump, look up into the port and make sure there is no debris inside the port.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Peter: If the check valve is clean /clear and the port it threads into is clean, there must be a restriction else where in the drain hose providing the pump is running.

Peter: You're on the right track. There is likely something in the drain hose restricting the water from draining.

Q:

DW won't wash/pump H2O

A:

Hi Beverly,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The first thing I recommend is checking the impeller. To do this you must gain access to the inside of the sump. I am including images below that will help you with this. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website; Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or purchase any parts needed for your appliance; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance please reply to this post.
