Question and Answers

Q:

Whirlpool Dishwasher Mod DU1055XTSQ3 harmonic noise when running - motor bearing?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I will assume the noise is emitting when the wash motor is running and not when it's draining the water out. This model has a wash motor and drain motor.

If it sounds like a grinding noise, it could have a small hard object stuck in the chopper blade assembly. I would also check under the dishwasher and make sure the copper water line is not touching any part of the frame or the pump base or motor and vibrating/resonating.

If the water supply line is touching any part of the frame or motors, and it's not a grinding sound, then it could be the wash motor bearings.

The chopper blade assembly can be accessed by removing the assembly under the lower spray arm.

I added a couple of images below to reference.

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
