Question and Answers

Q:

Barrel runs after cycle finishes DLE2701V Lg Dryer

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details, the motor relay contacts are most likely welded or stuck in the closed position. The motor relay is part of the control board and the control board (PCB) assembly would need to be replaced. The control board (PCB) is part # EBR36858821 which can be ordered from SearsPartsDirect.

I added an image below with the procedure of removing the top and the control panel. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

Q:

My LG model# DLE2701V will not start, it's getting power, but the only thing is that the display doesn't come on but when I open the door' the light comes on.

A:

You are correct that the dryer is getting power since the light comes on when you open the dryer door. I provided a wiring diagram for the dryer in the image below with some essential circuited traced.

The voltage path to the light is traced in red. Since the light turns on, we know that part of the circuit is good. The yellow line traces the path to ground from the light. Your light could be working due to this path being complete or the light may be properly connected to NEUTRAL through the path continued by the green line.

I recommend that you unplug the dryer and check the wiring connections for the outlet cord on the terminal block of the dryer. The 2nd through the 5th images below show the wiring connections for a 4-prong and 3-prong outlet cord. This should help you check the wiring. If the wiring is okay, I recommend that you check the continuity through the outlet cord using the 6th image as a guide. You can measure the resistance between the prong of the plug and the corresponding wiring connection on the terminal block to verify that the power cord has continuity. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance during these checks.

If the power cord is okay, I recommend that you check the voltage at the dryer outlet using the 7th image as a guide. If you do not have a good NEUTRAL connection through that outlet, then the control will not power up. NOTE: You should only conduct this live voltage check if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely measure the outlet voltage .

If the outlet is okay, I recommend that you remove the top panel of the dryer (with it still unplugged ). The final image below shows how to remove that panel. Check the wiring connections on the control board and the console. An internal wiring connection could be causing this failure.

These tips will likely help you resolve this dryer problem. If the above tips don't help, then you could have a bad electronic control board or a failed console in the dryer. I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair this type of failure. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .
