A:

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

The squeaking that you hear is most likely coming from the bearings and supports located at both ends of the drum. You will need to disassemble your dryer to determine where the noise is coming from. You may use the link to Sears Parts Direct below to view the parts list diagram. I am including the tech sheet below that will help with teardown.

The no heat issue could be a failed heating element, an open thermostat, wiring issue, thermistor, or control board problem. The thermostat on this dryer is resettable. This thermostat is on the heater housing and has a red button on it. To reset the thermostat you will need to press that red button.

The first thing you will need to do is run the diagnostics and determine if there are any fault codes recorded. This information is included in the tech sheet I have included.

Due to the complexity of this dryer, I highly recommend having a trained service technician evaluate this problem. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

Please perform the diagnostic tests detailed here and report back with your findings. Be sure to record any failures and when they occur along with any error codes that are displayed. I am looking forward to assisting you again in the near future.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.
