Question and Answers

Q:

Need to replace power cord on DC25 Dyson Vacuum. I have already ordered the part from Sears parts.

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to replace the damaged power cord on the DC25.

This is not an easy vacuum to work on for replacing parts.

I would suggest taking the vacuum in to have the cord replaced.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link that will provide the nearest drop-off locations: Sears Home Services .

I am sorry that I could not help you. We do not have a Dyson in our call center to look at and I have been trying to get some help from Dyson but all they say is to bring it in to be serviced. I know you have to remove the switch cover off the front of the handle but the parts picture does not show how to get to screws to remove that part. I know that these vacuums have a reputation of being hard to work on. I guess that is why they want you to bring it in for service. I hope you will be able to fix the vacuum without taking it in. Q:

DC25 runs for a few minutes then brushbar slows down. Brushbar eventually stops.

A:

Thank you for your question on the brush bar motor stopping after a few minutes.

The first thing I would suggest is to turn the unit over and clean out any build up on the roller brush that you can find. Hair debris can wind around the roller brush and roller brush bearings and as it heats the resistance increases and the bearing get hot and cause drag on the motor.

The possibility is that the roller brush motor is failing and will need to be replaced.

The roller brush assembly is replaced as a whole unit with the new motor inside.

I you need further information please call Dyson customer support at: 1-866-693-9766, and have your model and serial number handy to give to them.

If it is under warranty the will help you with some replacement parts or direct you to an authorized repair station in your area.

Q:

The ball on my DC25 Vacuum won't roll smoothly and kicks out the filter now after I cleaned out the filters and reinstalled them. Why?

A:

Thank you for your question on the DC25 Dyson vacuum cleaner.

Since the door will not stay locked have you checked to see if the button return spring is still in place?

If the ball is binding on the pivot points would indicate that there is a problem in the ball mounting axis area.

You may have to take it into a Dyson repair service center to get it repaired. These vacuum can be hard for a do it yourselfer to work on.

Please let me know what you find out.
