Question and Answers

Q:

dryer model # DBVH520EJ2WW, Trouble DBVH520EJ2WW Ge Electric dryer

A:

You indicate that you hear a hum when you start the dryer. If you are hearing the motor trying to run and detect excessive resistance when turning that drum by hand, then you could have a problem with the bearings or the felt glides in the drive system.  You can unplug the dryer and open the cabinet as shown in the images below to check the drive system components.

This dryer appears to have a belt switch that will stop the motor if that drive belt is broken or is off of the motor pulley. Your exact version may not have that switch. If the hum that you are hearing is the drive motor running, then you could have a broken drive belt. You can unplug the dryer and remove the top panel to check the belt on the drum.

If you find the cause of your problem and need parts, you can order them from this page: GE Dryer Model DBVH520EJ2WW Repair Parts.  Be sure that you unplug the dryer before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

I hope that this information helps. If you need further assistance, reply with additional details.
