Q:

Why is my Electric Range Flashing F7 DA?

A:

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to know what F7 means on your G.E. range.

  • The F7 code means you have a stuck key on the touch pad interface.

  • Is the DA part of the error code because if it is I do not know what that means.

  • Sometimes you can rub back and forth across the touch pad an get it to release. You also can remove the ribbon harness from the control board and put it back in, and it will sometimes work.

  • Disconnect the power to the range and reconnect after one minute. If the error code reappears you will need to have the touch pad/and or the control board replaced.

I would suggest that you have a technician check to see which one it may be. These parts are pretty expensive and it would be good not to have to replace both.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this will help.

Q:

whirlpool model 900 compactor

A:

You may have a bad start switch that is causing the unit to continuously cycle. The wiring diagrams for the common types of Whirlpool 900 Series compactors are shown in the image below. I circled that start switch in red. The basic location of components in this type of compactor is shown in the second image. You may be able to shut off the house circuit breaker for the compactor and access the start switch in the console. If you open the drawer, you may find screws in the back top side of the drawer that you can remove to release the console. If you can access that start switch, you can check it for continuity with a volt/ohm meter. Here is a link for a brief video that shows how to test switches: Video: Switch Testing . If the start switch is bad in your compactor, then replacing that component should fix this problem.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website. Use the full model number of your Whirlpool compactor to access the parts list diagram and order the correct switch.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and the full model number of your compactor.

Q:

Problems with Kenmore 900 Series washer

A:

Thank you for your question.

Without a model number, I will only be able to give you general information. If the washer fills but never runs, the motor to agitate the problem could be a timer, motor speed switch, or a pressure switch failure. I recommend noting when the washer does not agitate. If you only have the problem with certain motor speed or cycle, I suspect the timer or motor speed switch. If you need further assistance, please reply below with a complete model number and more details.
