Q:

Why does my Whirlpool dishwasher GU2500XTPQ3 show the code "d1" when I run the diagnostics check?

A:

You did indeed use the correct “key dance for the service diagnostics cycle. The d1 you are seeing is not an error code; it signifies that the diagnostic cycle has been started. D1 is the control board platform used in this dishwasher. The blinking clean light does typically indicate a heater circuit fault (heating element, high limit thermostat, door switch, wiring, or control board).

This is a very labor intensive do it yourself project, if you are not completely confident in your repair skills, I recommend calling a service company to diagnose and repair your appliance. If you have a volt/ohm meter and are comfortable working around live electricity I can give you a few checks that will help you diagnose the problem. If you are not already sure you can perform these checks safely and competently, refer this work to a qualified professional. Working with live electrical current can be very hazardous and possibly deadly. Testing voltage output requires working with electrical current. Do not attempt these measurements without the proper tools and safeguards.

Begin by checking VAC (Voltage Alternating Current) at the terminal block, the terminal block is behind the toe panel under the dishwasher. It should be 120 volts. I have put together a “tech sheet that includes disassembly and some testing information (see images below).

Ohm the heating circuit; with the power disconnected find P6 (white wire with a red stripe) on the control board. With your meter set to read ohms, place your red meter lead on P6 and your black lead on the neutral side (white wire with a violet stripe) of the door switch.

  • It should read 10 to 30 ohms, if not the wires could be “openâ€ or the heating element is bad and needs to be replaced.
  • If you ohmed this from the control board to the negative side door switch and you get 10 to 30 ohms the heater circuit is good and the control needs to be replaced.

If you require further assistance please resubmit question with details of the checks you have made. I will be looking forward to helping you again in the near future.

Q:

Kenmore Elite Oven Error

A:

Hello Wendy. That F5 00 normally indicates that you have a communication error between the electronic surface control board and the electronic oven control board in the console. It is likely that you have a control board failure in that range that is causing this problem. There is a chance that you just have some wiring connection problems. You can unplug the range and remove that upper back panel behind the console. Check the wiring connections on all of the boards. Based on your details, you will probably see at least 3 control boards back there. The image below shows a partial view of that area in a range that may be similar to yours. You will probably see a lot of wiring harnesses back there. If you find and correct a wiring connection problem then you may be able to fix this problem without having to replace parts or have a service technician examine the range. Be sure that you have the range unplugged when accessing those internal components.

If you don't find any wiring connection problems, I recommend that you have a service technician examine and repair the range. You can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services . NOTE: You may consider purchasing a Sears Service Smart Protection Agreement to cover this repair and also protect the range for entire year. That protection agreement costs around $239 and would cover the repair for parts and labor up to $500. A single control board on that type of range can cost around $200. You can call Sears at 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME) to discuss that type of agreement to cover the repair and provide a 1 year warranty.

If you want more information about troubleshooting this problem yourself, you can reply to this thread with that model number for your range. That model number is often on the base of the range in front of the right front leveling leg. If the range has a bottom drawer, pull that drawer out to view that area. If the range has a top and bottom oven, then you can open the bottom oven door and look straight down. You may find the model number in that area. The model number is sometimes located on the side of the opening to the oven cavity. Providing us with the model number and serial number of your range will normally help us give you more specific troubleshooting and repair assistance.

Q:

110.86193800 Kenmore electric clothes dryer. Changing lid switch.

A:

Thank you for the question. The new switch is a universal switch. One of the wires will connect to the side with one terminal. The other wire will connect to the one of the other terminals. Once the wires are connected, plug the dryer in and try to start the dryer with the door open. If the dryer starts with the door open, you have to change the wire to the other terminal on the two terminal side. You do not have to worry about covering the open terminal nothing will touch it. If you need further assistance, please submit more details.

Thank you for using Manage my life.
