Question and Answers

Q:

Washer top agitator goes only in CW rotation.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. It is normal for the augur to ratchet in one direction. It does this to help push the clothes downwards to the lower portion of the agitator.

A:

Danny: Based on your reply, the agitator is working normally as well as the augur. The basket should not be moving nor the outer tub. The degree of the agitation strokes can not be changed and is based on the mechanical action and design of the transmission.

Q:

Why would the Power-Mate on my Kenmore vacuum only run if the handle is rotated CW or CCW?

A:

There is likely a bad wire connection or a broken wire. The bad connection could be in the handle, switch, wand wire harness, at the Power-mate or where it connects to at the canister.

I recommend taking the hose, wand, canister and the Power-Mate in for servicing. It can be major job to locate and correct the intermittent connections.

Q:

I have a Craftsman 32cc trimmer, model 358.791070. How do I remove the clutch from the shaft? Is it a cw or ccw allen screw?

A:

There is a small torx screw in the center of the clutch housing you need to remove. The screw removes by turning it counter clockwise. The clutch drum should slide off the engine crankshaft when the screw is removed.

If you have trouble with the crankshaft turning when you are trying to loosen the screw, remove the spark plug. Fill the cylinder with some clean rope like starter rope. The piston will jam on the rope and stop turning. Leave a piece of rope hanging out the spark plug hole for removal.
