Q:

Why does my Samsung LN19A330J1d have no audio on Ch. 9 and 21 only?

A:

This is the second Samsung TV I purchased from Sears with audio problems. I returned the first one and got this new and now it has similar problems. I am going to assume that you are using cable straight into the set or an antenna for free over the air reception.

The cable line would be suspect if it is being used because we only have the problems on specific stations. This means that the tuner in the TV is picking up everything else correctly and would not likely be defective. A direct cable system is analog and sends each individual channel in a specified band of frequency. The audio information is right on the edge of that frequency and any slight deviation is first noticed in the audio. The hardest part about showing this to someone is that they could have had another TV in that same spot before that did not have a problem picking that station. Even a TV made by the same manufacturer in the same year can have a different tuner in it and give different results. I recommend first eliminating any splitters or jacks where the cable line is broken with a connector for the sake of testing and hooking it up directly to the TV. This will see if there’s any interference coming in and if not, you should contact your cable provider.

If you are having this problem with an antenna then there can be interference. This would be more difficult to correct. I can only recommend trying an amplified antenna but if the video is good while audio is missing, I doubt it would help. If the channels you said were acting up where digital that would have a higher chance of helping you.

If this problem is present on a cable box or satellite box, then the problem is in there.

Q:

I have a Sears elec ch saw model 358.34031 serial C1775435. A new oiler 10525 is not available. Can I disassemble and clean it?

A:

I have never tried to take the oiler apart so I don't know for sure if it comes apart. If you can get it apart you can clean it. You don't have much to lose.

Be sure the oiler is your problem before you start. If you take the oil line loose oil should run from the tank and out the end of the hose.

Q:

I have a lt1000, model 917.272670 riding mower that wont go into gear. I have no reverse or forward. Any advice?

A:

I am assuming the gearshift won't move into any gears. If this is the case, a belt guide is holding the belt too close to the pulley on the transaxle or the engine.

When you press the clutch in, the belt should "balloon" away from the stack pulley on the mower and the input pulley on the transaxle. If the belt is touching the transaxle pulley it doesn't let the pulley back off to stop driving the gears. This prevents you from shifting gears.

Adjust the belt guide on both pulleys so there is 1/4 inch space between the guide and the back of the belt.
