Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore Elite Washer CCU

A:

That CCU (Central Control Unit) is also called the Machine Control. It is KEY 15 on the parts diagram. For your model 110.45972404, it will be KEY 15A. The part number for the control is 8182685. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website.

Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components. Remove that top panel to access that CCU. Screws at the very back of that top panel secure it to the washer frame. Remove those screws and then pull the top panel back slightly and then up and off of the washer.

The F14 does indicate that you need to replace that control board since it will not reset.

I recommend that you check the model number of your washer and the part number for the control board that you installed. According to your details, it appears that you have a model 110.45972404. Based on that model number, you should have ordered and installed control board part 8182685. Check the part number on that control board to make sure that you installed the correct part. If you ordered and installed a different control board, it may be causing this failure if the control board is looking for a signal from the flow meter. According to the parts information that I see, the model 110.45972404 does not have a flow meter. The control board part 8182685 should recognize that. I provided the information for the FH code in the image below along with some other technical data. When the FH code appears nearly immediately (after about 30 seconds), this normally indicates a problem with the flow meter but this washer does not have a flow meter. That is why I suspect that you have a problem with the control board part number if you are getting that code after about 30 seconds. If it is taking several minutes before the code appears and the washer is filling with water properly, then you could have a problem with the water level pressure switch. These additional tips may help you with this washer problem. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

That control board part 8182289 is for a model such as 110.45972400 that has a flow meter. Your model 110.45972404 does not have a flow meter and that is probably why the control is displaying that FH code. I recommend that you order and install the control board 8182685 in your washer model 110.45972404. The control board 8182289 will not substitute for the control board 8182685. Installing the correct control board should fix this problem. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.

Q:

How do you check out the CCU on washer model MFW9700SQ?

A:

The FH code indicates that the CCU (Central Control Unit) does not detect water entering the machine. The specific technical description of this error code is provided in the first image below.

If no water is entering the machine, make sure that the faucets for the hot and cold water are both turned on properly. Check for kinks or freezing in the water supply hoses. Turn off the water supply and remove the water hoses from the inlet water connections on the back of the washer. Check the inlet water screens for clogs or deposits that could inhibit water flow. Place the ends of the fill hoses in a bucket and briefly turn on the water supply faucets to check for proper water pressure and flow from the ends of the hoses. Check the installation of the drain hose in the washer according to the installation guide. Improper stand pipe height, low sink height or using a floor drain without a siphon break could be causing a siphoning problem where fill water is drained out of the washer during the fill process. Here is link for your owner's manual that has the drain system installation requirements in case you need it: Owner's Manual . A problem with the solenoid inlet water valve assembly, a wiring failure or a problem with the CCU could also cause this problem.

If the washer is filling properly with water, you could have a problem with the water level pressure switch or the CCU. I provided the technical information on accessing and testing the water level pressure switch in the second image below. Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components. This information should help you diagnose a possible water level pressure switch failure or a CCU problem. NOTE: You should only access the internal components and make these checks if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely complete the procedures.

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details based on the information provided above.

Q:

Troubleshooting points to MCU or CCU - how to tell the difference?

A:

The CCU refers to the Central Control Unit or main control board in the top of the HE front load washer. The MCU is the Motor Control Unit. The MCU is a separate control board that is beside the drive motor in the bottom of the washer. Without a model number, I am not able to access the technical information the washer that you have. I don't see an HE front load washer that you seem to be describing that has both the F1 and the F33 error codes. The F1 error code indicates an EEPROM failure on the CCU on some of the HE front load washer models. The F33 indicates a system leak on some HE front load washers.

It appears that we will need the full model number of your washer to assist you further with this issue. Reply with that model number and we will provide more information.
