Q:

kenmore elite oasis automatic top load washer

A:

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The code you mention "C7" is not an error code, it is a particular section of the diagnostics routine where the drain pump should run. The tech sheet (see images below) instructs to perform the "Manual Pumps" on page 2. Ensure that the basket will move up and down freely.

Check all drain lines and make sure the drain pump is not clogged or blocked. Here is a video that demonstrates gaining access to and replacing the drain pump; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. This video is for demonstration purposes only. This washer may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

Which two terminals do I touch to test resistance in the pump motor windings on Kenmore Oasis washer model 11027062603?

A:

The wiring diagram for this washer is shown in the image below. To check the resistance of the drain pump windings (with the washer unplugged), pull the P4 connector off of the machine control board and place your ohmmeter probes on the outside 2 pins (3 and 4) as shown in the wiring diagram. You should measure 10.5 to 14 ohms according to the wiring diagram. This will test the resistance of the motor windings for the drain pump. If the drain pump windings are shorted (measure near zero ohms) or open (measure infinite ohms), then the pump could be bad or you could have a wiring failure between the drain pump and the control board. You can measure the resistance directly off of the terminals of the motor by moving the washer forward and carefully tilting it backward. The tub should be empty and the washer unplugged. Secure the washer by using a block of wood if necessary. The location of the drain pump is shown in the second image below. Pull the wires off of the leads of the pump and measure the resistance across the leads. If you read normal resistance off of the pump, then it is likely good and will not need to be replaced. You could have a clog or a broken impeller in the pump that could be preventing it from draining. With the washer tilted back, you can pull off the outlet hose and check for a clog or damage.

I am not sure what you are indicating when you say that you are having C7 problems. The C7 portion of the automatic diagnostic test drains the tub until the basket engages and then drains for another 10 seconds. If the tub is not draining, it is likely that you have a drain pump problem.

If the washer does drain but you have a problem with the basket engaging, then you could have an item between the basket and the washer tub that is causing this problem.

If you do have a machine/motor control assembly problem, this part will cost $165.99 not including tax, shipping and handling from the Sears PartsDirect website. The part number for this control board is W10189966. I recommend exhausting all other possible failures before replacing this part.
