Question and Answers

Q:

My Afinity front loader washes but will not spin

A:

Hi George,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The first thing I recommend is checking for error codes. This washer has a test routine you can run that will help in the diagnosis of any problems the control detects. If the control detects a problem it will identify it with an error code. I am including this information in a set of images below. Please perform the diagnostic tests detailed here and report back with your findings. Be sure to record any failures and when they occur along with any error codes that are displayed.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Hi George, If you get the E41 error code you will need to follow the tech sheet instructions for Test number 6. The diagnosis of this issue will require the use of an ohm/volt meter and you will have to perform ohm checks and/or live voltage checks. If you have an ohm/volt meter and are confident in your technical abilities, please utilize the checks on the tech sheet I included in the previous post. I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post. Landell

Hi George, The PTC (positive temperature coefficient) is the door lock wax motor. I am giving you the wiring diagram below with the connectors/wires you need to look for marked in red. I am also including the disassembly instructions. I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post. Q:

HI, I HAVE A FRIGIDAIRE WASHING MACHINE MODE: ATF6000ES1

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The "dr" indicates a door lock failure on your washer model ATF6000ES1. Try opening and re-closing the door and see it that makes any difference. If it doesn't, I suspect a faulty door lock assembly and the door lock assembly will most likely have to be replaced.

When the door is shut, the contacts where the red/black wire and the black wire connect to must close or "dr" will display.

First make sure the door strike on the back side of the door is not broken. If the strike is not broken, I added an image below with the instructions for removing and replacing the door lock assembly. The door lock assembly for model ATF6000ES1 is part #131763202 which can be ordered from Searpartsdirect.com

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

Sharon: If all the wire connections are okay at the door lock assembly and control board, the door lock assembly will need to be replaced.

Q:

My Washer (frontloader) automatically shuts off at the start of the spin cycle. I just replaced one of the control boards(rear near motor)What should I try next

A:

You indicated that you have the tech sheet but you did not say which test that you ran and what error codes that you observed during the test or before the test. The tech sheet for this washer is shown in the images below. Compare your tech sheet with the one shown below to make sure that it is accurate. If you found the tech sheet inside the washer, it should be the same as the one shown below.

Make sure that you used the correct motor control board. The part number for the motor control board is 134743500. Also, make sure that all wiring connections are secure and installed properly.

Clear the latest saved error code using the procedure shown below. Start the diagnostic test and determine the error code indicated when the washer will not spin in the test mode. If you are able to determine the cause of your problem using the recommended tests, you may be able to fix this problem yourself. NOTE: Some of the tests require live voltage to be checked on internal components. I do not recommend that you conduct any live voltage checks yourself. Unplug the washer to disconnect electrical power whenever you access internal components. If a test calls for a live voltage check, I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair the washer. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details and the error codes that you are encountering.
