Q:

How difficult is it to remove a thermostat from an ice maker given they are put in with adhesive?

A:

Before replacing the thermostat, I recommend that you use the information in the image below to jump the thermostat and verify that this is your failure. NOTE: You should only conduct this test if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely execute it. Be sure to pull the jumper out as directed. Leaving the T and H contacts jumped can damage the ice maker module.

If the thermostat is bad and needs to be replaced, you can unplug the refrigerator and disassemble the ice maker then pry the thermostat out. You should not have any trouble removing the old thermostat. You will need to put some allumilastic (part number 4317852) on the top of the bimetal thermostat that contacts the mold body when reassembling the ice maker.
