Question and Answers

My washer fills and does nothing else, What's wrong?

I understand that your washer is only filling and does not do anything else. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and I noticed that someone else had asked a similar question with a posted response from an expert. I attached the link below for you to view. I hope the link that I provided is helpful.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. If the washer will not begin agitating once the water level has been satisfied and if the washer will not operate in order to drain and spin then the likely failure is the lid switch. If the lid switch is not sensing the lid shut the washer motor will not operate. The lid switch is located underneath the main top. The main top can be hinged open by locating the two clips between where the top meets the front part of the cabinet. Use a thin putty knife to slip in-between and push inwards on the clip while lifting that corner and repeat on the other clip and hinge the top open. The lid switch can be disconnected and tested for continuity using an ohm meter. The lid switch is no longer available and there is no known substitute available.

NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before hinging the top open and testing the lid switch.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
