Question and Answers

Q:

how do you install rubber gasket seal on front loading washing machine?

A:

The procedure for accessing and replacing that door seal on your washer is shown in the images below. The procedure normally requires some special tools to remove and replace the spring clamps that secure that seal to the outer tub and the door opening. You may be able to get by without using those tools but it is normally difficult to install that seal without them.

NOTE: Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

If you have not already ordered the gasket, you can order it online from the Sears PartsDirect website.

This is an advanced repair. I recommend that you carefully review the procedure shown below. If you are not completely confident that you can complete that repair (without the tools), then I recommend that you have a service technician install that gasket. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to perform this repair yourself and need more information about the tools, reply with additional details.

Replacing rotor assembly on LG washer

A:

There is not a specific torque specification provided for this bolt. Tightening the bolt to 30 fl. lbs. or torque should be adequate. You should not need loctite on that bolt.

A:

I checked with the manufacturer. There is currently no excessive or unusual failure rate on that rotor assembly. It is unusual that the rotor has failed 4 times since January of 2010. You may have other factors that are causing that failure. The technician may be able to check for contributing factors of that failure if it continues to happen. Let us know if you need more help.
