Question and Answers

Q:

LG Front Loader washer model WM1812CW fills with water & does drain OK but it does not spin. Makes a grinding noise. Different thread suggests sensor.

A:

It would be unusual for this model of LG washer to not display an error code with this type of failure. I provided a diagnostic test procedure and error code information in the first image below. I recommend that you start the diagnostic test and see if the machine displays any error codes or will spin in the diagnostic test cycle. This may help you determine the cause of your problem. The second image provides access information and a wiring diagram. You should be able to use this information to diagnose and repair this washer failure. NOTE: Be sure that you unplug the washer to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Internal metal edges in the washer can be sharp. Protective gloves are recommended.

If you need more help, submit additional details about your failure and we will assist you further.

Q:

Proceedures to change out rear bearing on LG front load washer

A:

The easiest way to replace the rear bearing on this washer is to replace the outer tub. The bearings are available bur they are pressed into that outer tub. If the tub is damaged, the seals will leak. The part number for the outer tub is 3045ER0023A. You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website.

I provided a procedure for removing the outer tub from the washer in the image below. Be sure that you unplug the washer and shut off the water supply before beginning this repair.

This information should help you complete this repair.

This is a complicated procedure that normally requires some special tools. I recommend that you carefully review the procedure before you proceed on your own.
