Question and Answers

will not spin or agitate WJSR4160G2WW Ge Washer

Thank you for choosing  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer will not spin or agitate. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I have found information to assist you.

The main reason a unit will not spin or agitate will be because the belt has broke. I recommend opening the unit and checking to see if the belt is still intact.
When the motor flashes 4 times it means that themode shift circuit has failed. You will need to check the mode shifter coil.

How to install a belt on model# wjsr4160g2ww WJSR4160G2WW Ge Washer

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when doing repairs on the washer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your GE model number wjsr4160g2ww.

I have instructions below.  This originally also came with a belt tool for installation that you can order from us if you need it.

1.  Unplug the power cord for safety.  Also unhook the water lines on the back of the machine. (Have a bucket handy to drop the water lines into them after you have turned the water valves off, still water in the lines).

2.   Get a putty knife and put it into the gap under the top panel.  Slide the putty knife across the area to find the internal clips on the left and on the right side of the control panel.  Press the putty knife into the clips so they will unlock.

3.  Lift up the top panel and let it rest easy on the rear wall area.

4.  Pull the front panel up to disconnect it from the base and set the panel to the side.

5.  Slide off the old belt from the pulleys.

6.  Position the new belt around the pulleys.  Adjust the belt to fit in the center area.

7.  Replace the panels and you are all set.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I do not have a source for a repair manual to purchase but there should be a tech sheet in the console area or behind the front panel. I added two images below of tech sheet. This should provide the information needed to diagnose and repair the failure.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
