Question and Answers

Q:

WHES40 regeneration WHES40

A:

Since the water softener generates properly when manually initiated, all of the components except for the electronic control component are apparently okay. I recommend that you carefully check your settings. If the softener is set correctly for the automatic regeneration, then I recommend that you unplug the water softener for 5 minutes. This will reset that electronic control board. Plug it back in and see if the water softener will regenerate automatically. If not, then you will need to replace that electronic control board (part 7335163). Unplug the water softener before accessing internal components and replacing that part.

Q:

Softener Motor Just spins and doesn't stop WHES40

A:

The image below shows that circuit through the switch marked in red. You can unplug the water softener and check that switch. Access the wires that plug into the control. Check the resistance through those wires with the switch in the "open" and the "closed" positions. You should read OL -- open load or infinite resistance when the switch is open. The circuit should measure near zero ohms of resistance (continuity) then the switch is "closed". If that switch is bad, then it will need to be replaced. If the switch is okay, then you will need to replace the control. You can order the part that you need from this page: Whirlpool Water Softener Model WHES40 Parts . Be sure that you unplug the water softener before accessing and replacing internal components.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.
