Question and Answers

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I assume the motor is not running or humming and will only fill and drain water. Based on this assumption I suspect a broken or faulty lid switch. If the lid switch is faulty/broken or the lid is opened, the motor will not operate in order to agitate or spin.

If the lid switch is needed; you can order the lid switch assembly #WH12X1043 at Sears Parts Direct.

I added an image below with the directions for removing the front panel and the washer top. NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing. The lid switch can be disconnected and tested for continuity with an Ohm meter. The Ohm meter should measure continuity when the switch is energized.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
