Q:

I bought a washer from sear about 8 years ago. The water cannot be drained by the end of the cleaning process. Please advise.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the washer motor will not run/operate in the drain and spin cycles; the lid switch is most likely broken or faulty. If the lid is left open or if the lid switch is broken/faulty; the washer will not operate in order to drain and spin.

I added video showing the procedure of accessing and replacing the lid switch assembly . NOTE: Disconnect the power cord from the power source before servicing the washer.

You can order the lid switch from Sears Parts Direct.

Q:

Many different error codes all at once

A:

The link for a previous answer that Pvalde2 provided in the above response shows the technical explanation for the codes that you are seeing. The SL (Suds Lock) code is often caused by excessive suds in the washer or a bad drain pump. Try running a cycle with no clothes or detergent added. If the washer runs properly and finishes the cycle, then I recommend that you drastically cut back on the amount of HE (High Efficiency) detergent that you are using. You will likely need less than a tablespoon of detergent for a while. Detergent is likely dissolved in the fibers of the items that you are washing. This detergent will emerge during the cycle and can cause excessive suds. If you are not using HE (High Efficiency) detergent in this washer, I recommend that you buy and use only that type of laundry soap to avoid excessive suds.

If excessive suds conditions are apparently not causing this problem in your washer, then I recommend that you check the drain system. Make sure that the washer drain is working properly. Check the drain hose for kinks or clogs. If you find no problems there, then you may need to check the drain pump. This link for a previous answer describes how to access the drain pump in this type of washer: How do I replace the water pump on my Kenmore Calypso washer? Be sure that you unplug the washer before accessing internal components.

These tips may help you resolve the problems in your Calypso washer. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will help you further.
