Q:

Mower stops running after approximately 6-10 minutes time

A:

Even though you have checked the cap, please follow these instructions. Next time the engine starts to die, loosen the fuel cap for ten seconds. If the engine smoothes out, I recommend replacing the fuel cap. The fuel cap has a vent that should allow air to replace the used fuel. If the vent is plugged, fuel will eventually stop flowing from the tank. The fuel filter and the fuel pump if your tractor has one could also cause the same issue.

If you do not think fuel is not the problem, you have to determine if the engine has spark. To check the engine for spark remove the spark plug wire and insert a screwdriver into the boot. Make sure to hold the handle of the screwdriver and position the exposed metal portion of the screwdriver close to something metal on the engine. A bolt head will work well. Then try to start the engine. You should see a spark from the screwdriver to the bolt head. This mean the coil is good. If you do not see a spark most likely the coil need to be replaced. If you see a spark the problem is most likely fuel related. I hope this is helpful. If you need further assistance, please submit more details.

Q:

My kenmore gas range won't start self-clean.

A:

The F5 - E1 error code indicates that the clock control board detects a problem with that oven door lock circuit. The technical information and troubleshooting for that code is shown in the first image below. I recommend that you unplug the range and check the wiring connections on the clock control board and the oven door lock assembly as described in that first image. Remove the back panels of the range to access those components. The second image shows the wiring diagram with the wires for the door lock assembly traced in wire colors. If you find a wiring failure, then you may not need to replace any parts. If you do not find any wiring connection problems, then you will likely need to replace that door lock motor assembly (part W10107820). You can order that part from the Sears PartsDirect website. Here is a direct link for that part: Door Latch .

Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing and replacing internal components.

If you replace that door latch motor assembly and still have problems, then you may need to replace that clock control board in the console.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician repair the range, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
