Question and Answers

Q:

maytag SDG305DAWW drum not turning, but blet is OK

A:

Your details imply that the motor is running or humming even though the drum is not turning. A friction problem could prevent the drum from turning or you could have a bad drive motor in the dryer since the belt is intact. Try disconnecting the belt (with the dryer unplugged and the gas shut off) and then reassemble the dryer. Start the dryer (with the gas still shut off) and see if the dryer motor runs with the belt removed. You should feel air coming out of the back of the dryer vent if the motor is running normally since it will be spinning the blower fan. If the motor is not running but is just humming, you will need to replace the drive motor. If the motor is running with the belt disconnected, then a friction problem could be causing your spin failure in the dryer. Shut off the dryer and spin the drum manually with the belt still disconnected. If it is difficult to turn, then you could have a problem with a drum roller or the front or back bulkheads and seals. If the drum spins okay with no excessive friction and the idler pulley on the motor spins okay, then you could still have a problem with the motor.

If the motor is not running, you could have a problem with the door switch, a failed drive motor, a bad timer, a wiring failure or a blown thermal fuse. A blown thermal fuse is the most likely of these failures. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.

Q:

Are Maytag dryer parts carried in Sears stores or are they available online only?

A:

Sears stores do not normally carry appliance parts unless they have a Parts/Service center at that location. Parts can be looked up and ordered at Sears Parts Direct.

I added the link below for your model dryer so you can browse the components of your Maytag dryer and order them online.
