Q:

Replace a door handle on 1813 LG Microwave

A:

Thank you for your question.

Replacing a door handle on most appliances is no big deal but a microwave is not the usual appliance. Replacing the door handle is a repair that should only be completed by a service technician. Disassembling the door would involve removing the microwave shielding components. A technician will need to remove these parts, replace the handle, and then reassemble the door. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the door using proper testing equipment before the microwave can be safely returned to service.

I recommend calling a service technician to install the door handle. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Ultrasoft 200 625.388260

A:

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the softener. After you clean the nozzle/venturi, the unit must run a few regenerations for the water level to go down. If you have done this and followed the trouble shooting on Kenmore water.com without any luck I recommend starting the unit in a regeneration. Then watch the drain hose where it connects to the unit. If you do not notice any leaks during the cycle I recommend replacing the seal kit. The seal kit seals against the rotor to direct the water flow during the cycle. If the seals are not sealing the unit will not run properly. Replacing the seal kit is not a difficult repair. Just remember to turn the water supply off first. Then follow the instructions listed below.

  • Turn the water supply off to the softener.
  • Unplug the softener
  • Remove the plastic covers.
  • Remove motor mount and gear
  • Remove the clip for the drain
  • Remove the screws securing the valve cover. A burst of water will come out, I recommend wrapping a towel around the valve body. This will keep the water from spraying.
  • Remove rotor and the seals from the valve cap. Make sure you remove two seals. Sometimes the small seal will stick in the cover.
  • Lube and install the new seals on the rotor and place into the valve cover.
*Then remove each seal one at a time. Lube the replacement seal and install it. That way you will not get confused on what seal goes where.
  • You have a cylinder in the valve body that has a spring on the underside. Remove the cylinder and slightly stretch the spring. This helps the sealing of the seal.
  • Once all of the seals are replaced you can reassemble the softener in the reverse order.

After you have completed the repair, push and hold the regenerate button. This will start the softener in a cycle. While the softener is running check for water leaks. If you spot any leaks, turn the water off immediately and repair the leak.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
