Question and Answers

Q:

why my wash leaks in the middle

A:

You washer probably has a leaking tub seal. The washer will likely need to have a triple lip seal and bearing kit (part 12002140) installed. I don't recommend that you try to install that kit yourself. It would require the specialized tools that are shown in the image below. Some of those tools are no longer available through Sears PartsDirect. Buying the kit, the tools and other parts that may be needed will probably not make economic sense. I recommend that you have a service technician repair this washer failure. Here is a link for the Sears Service website where you can schedule service: Sears Home Services .

NOTE: The service will probably cost around $300 or more. You may consider replacing the washer instead of repairing it. You can view current washer models on the Sears.com website.

Q:

Why does my Maytag washer refill after the spin cycle is complete?

A:

I do not have enough details indicating if the water inlet valve on the washer is actually energizing/opening and filling the tub up rapidly after the final spin or if the tub refills very slowly over a period of time of no use.

In order to help narrow down the possible causes, unplug the washer power cord after the final spin cycle has shut off. If water fills the tub after a being unplugged then this would indicate a failed water inlet valve on the washer. If it does not fill up, the washer timer is likely faulty.

Resubmit your question with the model number and additional details for further assistance.
