Question and Answers

Q:

replace infinite switch on jenn air s160

A:

I am not aware of any specific instructions being available for the replacement of this burner infinite switch on this older Jenn-Air range. You will need to use your personal observation of the range and the parts list diagram to access and replace this component. I provided the parts diagram for that section of the range in the image below. Here are some general tips that may help:

  1. Shut off the house circuit breaker for the range before accessing internal components.
  2. Remove the knob from the infinite switch.
  3. It appears that you may be able to open the console by pulling the range forward and removing the end caps (KEYS 2 and 3). You may find hidden screws behind those end caps (KEY 23) that secure the console.
  4. It appears that there are also screws (KEY 5) that secure the bottom of the console to the range frame. You will need to open the oven door to find those screws.
  5. Once you remove those screws, you may be able to pull the console forward to access the infinite switch. You should find a screw or screws that secure that switch in the console. Remove the fasteners that secure the infinite switch to in the console.
  6. Transfer the wires from the old switch to the new one.
  7. Mount the new switch in the console and reassemble the range.

NOTE: You may not be able to release the console in this manner. You may need to gain access to the console by removing the top from behind the console.

This could be a difficult repair to complete given the limited instructions and technical information on this older Jenn-Air range. You may need to have a service technician replace that component. Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need it: Sears Home Services .

Q:

Replacing an old jennair S160 with the newer JES9750CAS can i use same down draft?

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I do not have a clear understanding of your question. I assume you are asking if the old blower assembly will attach to the new Jenn-air.

Based on the image and part numbers I compared on the two models, it uses the same blower assembly.  Judging by the part number and image, the two blower assemblies appear to be the same. I would think you can use the old blower assembly on the new unit without any modification.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
