Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my 54 inch garden tractor flooding?

A:

It sounds like the float is stuck on the carburetor or you could also have a problem with a stuck solenoid. I recommend that you have a service technician diagnose and repair this problem on your tractor. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

I HAVE A SEARS 54" RIDER MOWER

A:

Thank you for your question.

I know it can be difficult to install the drive belt. The easiest way I have found to replace the ground drive belt is by taking the mower deck off the tractor. Once the deck is removed, you have room to maneuver under the tractor and can easily see the belt. Once the belt is on, I recommend checking the operation of the tractor before installing the mower deck.

If you need to know how to remove the mower deck, the instructions should be towards the back of the manual.

If you need further assistance on the repair of the tractor please reply below.

I am sorry the response I submitted yesterday did not show up. I am not ignoring you. My response from yesterday was. I called and spoke with the manufacture about the differential lock. He said there should be a button on the footrest that has to be pushed when you want the differential locked. The lock will only stay engaged if you keep the button pushed. When you want the differential unlocked, let up on the button. If it does not unlock stop the tractor and back up a foot or so. That should cause it to disengage. We are trying to get one of these tractors here to take pictures. I have called the manufacture again today about the deck contacting the rear wheels but had to leave a voice mail. I will keep you posted on what I find out.

If it does not locking in right away, turn to the left and right a little, while pushing on the button. This will speed up one of the rear wheels and similar slipping. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
